Sailing the Danube

My childhood dreams of traveling to far away places became reality in my adult life. I love to breathe in the experiences of discovering new places!  I've enjoyed fabulous opportunities to travel to many destinations throughout the world, and that...

The Danube meets the Inn and Ilz rivers

Sailing the waterways of the world is a good way to combine some relaxation with a learning experience.  The rivers of Europe provide ample opportunity for both on a River Cruise.  My first River Cruise experience was on the Danube, sailing through Germany, Hungary, Czech Republic and Austria.

It is sheer delight to gaze out from a top deck to see land on either side  with castles, vineyards and the preserved signs of life from generations past.  Once the ship is docked at the city edge the opportunities are endless.  If shopping is your thing, that is a short walk into the town/village.  It is possible to combine a hike to a hilltop castle where you can hear the stories of life lived in time so long ago.

After a day of exploring, it's back to the ship for gourmet dining and the choice of returning to town for some local activity or maybe an evening of dancing in the common area on board the ship.

Many choices are available to suit your taste and comfort level.  With shipboard capacity no more than about 160, it is easy to make new friends and enjoy time together.
